The Story

If you've travelled to Egypt (or any overpopulated country with a bustling marketplace), you'll know that if you even slightly pause in front of a shop, you will end up in a bartering argument you didn't ask for! I saw this little stall and desperately wanted to capture it. I knew I couldn't spend any time setting up for the shot, or the aforementioned scenario would begin to unfold. From a distance, I began to guess what all my camera settings would need to be. I had one moment to get the shot. I walked passed, holding my camera casually at my side. I clicked once. That was it. My dad was the inspiration for the text - he was the chef in our household and boy did that man love his spice.

In the heart of the home, you’ll find a kitchen. In that kitchen, you’ll find the family’s favourite person. They throw together flavours; inventing, testing, trialling, perfecting. Everyone eagerly waits to see what feast will fill their dinner plate. Around the table, conversation and laughter and connection and love can be found - and it all started with the spice. The first flavours from which a delicious meal is born. Without the spice, everything would be rather bland, wouldn’t it? So, this one is for the spice - for those who make it, for those who use it and for those who are it. Life is genuinely better with a little spice in it.
